Wrangell Assembly Tables AK/BC Intertie Plan, Applies for FERC Permit in DC

WRANGELL At last night's meeting, the Wrangell Assembly sent a plan concerning the use of the remaining AK/BC Intertie funds back the Wrangell Energy Committee for revision. The move comes just two days before they are scheduled to present the plan at this week's Alaska Energy Authority meeting. The Assembly also discussed a recent trip to Washington, DC, where representatives officially applied for a permit with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to develop hydro-electric power at Ruth Lake. Forest Service seeks input on new Anan master plan, mooring float

A controversial dock project at the Anan Wildlife Observatory near Wrangell was scrapped last fall after it was found to be too expensive, and now the U.S. Forest Service has a new draft plan for accessing the observatory and for constructing additional improvements. The Wrangell Ranger District is asking for public input this month before moving forward with its construction plans. more
