Wrangell Assembly Approves New Fish Tax Program

WRANGELL The Borough of Wrangell is expected to bring in another source of revenue through a statewide fish tax program. The Shared Fisheries Business Tax Program provides a sharing of state fish tax collected outside municipal boundaries with other municipalities affected by fishing industry activities. Based on fisheries activities reported by fish processors, municipalities across the state shared approximately $1.64 million in 2008. KSTK's Tony Gorman reports.

Board of Fish changes some shrimp pot reporting requirements

The Alaska Board of Fisheries Saturday changed reporting requirements for shrimp pot fishermen in Southeast. All shrimp pot catcher-processor vessels in Registration Area A will have to submit a logbook to the Department of Fish and Game at the end of a shrimp fishery. more
