Bond issue for playground repairs is back in voters' hands

Once again, the fate of the aging Evergreen Elementary School playground will be up to the voters. The Wrangell Assembly voted unanimously to put a bond issue that will help repair the playground on the ballot for this year's Borough Election. Last year, the issue failed by a narrow margin. Wrangell Assembly adopts Comprehensive Plan

The City and Borough of Wrangell has a comprehensive plan. The Wrangell Assembly voted unanimously to adopt the plan during this week's meeting. The plan maps out the use of borough lands for the next 10-20 years. KSTK's Tony Gorman reports.

Wrangell Ranger District shows off Middle Ridge Cabin

Locals don't need a boat or plane anymore to enjoy a cabin in the Wrangell Ranger District. An open house and dedication ceremony was held over the weekend for the new Middle Ridge Cabin. It's the District's first road-accessible cabin and the second in the Tongass National Forest built from second growth timber. KSTK's Tony Gorman was at the ceremony and filed this report.

Superintendent Wilson discusses plans after 2010-11

Woody Wilson says accepting challenges is one of the reasons for his success as superintendent of the Wrangell School District. He will have to look for more now that he has a lot of time on his hands. The Wrangell School Board accepted his resignation during this week's meeting. In his letter to the board, he says he was blessed to have been able to work with students, teachers, staff, and Board, and the community of Wrangell. KSTK's Tony Gorman was able to catch up with Wilson to see what's next for the long-time educator.
