More than 900 signatures were officially certified Monday for the recall of eight hospital board members. The eight sit on the city-owned Wrangell Medical Center’s governing board.

Wrangell’s Borough Assembly held a regular meeting Tuesday evening, at the forefront of discussion was an ordinance that would change eligibility requirements for Wrangell Medical Center’s (WMC) Board members.

Wrangell was one of 123 communities in Alaska Thursday afternoon to ‘March for Respect’ in an effort to standup against domestic violence and sexual assault.

At Tuesday’s Borough Assembly Meeting, hospital staff and members of the community gave testimony regarding ordinance amendments that would change staff policies and financial reporting requirements at the city-owned hospital.

After a year of planning, Wrangell has completed its long-term sustainable outdoor recreation plan. Organizers are now working with the community to get some of the projects started.
