There are three candidates for this year’s Fourth of July royalty contest. They are Darian Meissner, Kayla Rooney, and Jennifer Ludwigsen.
Ludwigsen was born and raised in Wrangell, is a stay-at-home mother of three, and says she’s wanted to be a queen candidate since she was a little kid.
KSTK’s Shady Grove Oliver spoke with Ludwigsen about her preparations for this year’s event. This is part of that interview.

The Wrangell school board held a special meeting Wednesday, April 16 to discuss a potential hire. The board approved offering a contract to Patrick Mayer for the position of superintendent of schools for the 2014 – 2015 school year. more
Like many hospitals in Southeast Alaska, Wrangell Medical Center is starting to look its age. A brand new hospital is still the long-term plan, but for now, the building is getting a much-needed makeover. more
