P & Z approves rock crusher, asphalt plant

The Wrangell Planning and Zoning Commission approved a controversial temporary use permit for a rock crusher and asphalt plant. Community members spoke out both in favor of and against the permit. The crusher and plant will be located in the vicinity of 9 mile Zimovia Highway, on the property owned by Brett Woodbury.

Questionable tree removal on MHT land?

Last month, several trees were removed from a parcel of Mental Health Trust Land in Wrangell. The trees were near a series of power lines. But, there have been concerns about whether or not the cut was done properly.

Easterly reels in grand prize

The 2013 Salmon Derby wrapped up Sunday evening in Wrangell. Jeannie Easterly swept this year’s derby with her 43.6 pound fish, caught at Aaron’s Creek on June 8th. That salmon led her to the $6000 first place prize along with the $500 week four prize.
