Proposed sales tax cut means cheaper goods but fewer public services

A ballot initiative to lower Wrangell’s city sales tax by one and a half percent is up for a vote of the public in the October first general elections.

VoicesMichael Guggenbickler, a senior at WHS, has chosen to host a Community Radio show every Wednesday evening at 7pm for his Senior Project and will be featuring Voices on the Tongass as part of his show.

Wrangell cross country boys take 2nd, 7th place in meet

Wrangell's cross country team traveled to Juneau last weekend to compete in a 5k or 3.1 mile run. Wrangell is a 3A school, which means it competes in the 'small school' category.

The regularly scheduled borough assembly meeting is Tuesday at 7pm in the borough assembly chambers at City Hall.

Blue Footed Boobies bake, walk for breast cancer cure

Beth Heller, Beth Comstock and Tyla Nelson make up a bag of bagels for a customer.Five women from Wrangell and one from Juneau are headed to Seattle this weekend for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day event. It’s a 60-mile walk to raise awareness about breast cancer and money for research.

2013 PFD is $900

The amount was announced this morning at a news conference in Anchorage. Payments are on October 3rd.
