The regular elections for the City and Borough of Wrangell are October 1st.
For the next month, KSTK will bring you overviews of the important issues and items you can expect to see on the ballot.

As part of this coverage, we’ll feature interviews with the candidates running for elected positions.
There are two people vying for the position of mayor, David Jack and Kipha Valvoda.
Jack was appointed mayor earlier this year after the resignation of Don McConachie.
KSTK’s Shady Grove Oliver spoke with Jack about his bid to keep the spot.

Chere Klein is one of three candidates in the Republican primary election to represent Wrangell and Ketchikan in the Alaska State House of Representatives. Klein said she would focus on legislation to help boost small businesses in the 36th District. more
The fifth annual Bearfest started Wednesday, bringing researchers to Wrangell to discuss the symposium theme, “Bears and People.” At the Anan WIldlife Observatory, a careful relationship is maintained between bears and the people who come to watch them fish. more
