More Wrangell residents are heading to the polls early this year. According to the Alaska Division of Elections, in-person absentee voting is up nearly 4 times compared to the 2014 general election. As of Friday afternoon, Wrangell saw a total of 195 voters, about a 50 percent increase compared to the 2012 presidential election.

Early voting is up around the state as well. There were 51,803 early votes counted as of Friday, slightly above 44,608 in 2014. But, this year’s numbers are over two times the amount of early votes in 2012.

In-person absentee voting runs two weeks prior to Election Day. The last day of early voting is today. The polls will be located in the Nolan Center on Nov. 8 for Election Day.
