A new business is poised to open in Wrangell and this one is for the ladies. It's a place to be pampered, polished, and preened. Located in the Stikine Inn, this new business looks out towards the summer float – a perfect place to sit back, relax, and let someone else do the work. KSTK's Lisa Phu went down to the new shop, where finishing touches are still ongoing, and spoke to the woman behind the business.

Wrangell Medical Center CEO Noel Rae has been actively looking for potential sites for a new health care center. The site would house all the health care available in Wrangell, including all the facilities of the Wrangell Medical Center and Alaska Island Community Services. At least five acres will be needed for space requirements as well as room for expansion. The search was narrowed down to four sites and a recent study presented to the borough assembly Tuesday night reveals which one is best suited for development.

Despite some strong objections from a couple of members, the Wrangell borough assembly moved forward Tuesday night and agreed to sign the non-disclosure, non-circumvention agreement with private company Cascade Creek, LLC.

Tlingit artist Doug Chilton recently finished carving a traditional red cedar canoe in April, and last week skippered it down the Potomac River in Washington, D.C.
Commissioned by the Sealaska Heritage Institute for the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, Chilton's canoe will hang in the soon-to-be-opened Ocean Hall.

As part of the Fourth of July events, Wrangellites can once again look forward to gravity car races taking place on Tuesday, July 1. This is an event to show of craftsmanship, creativity, and most importantly, speed.
