Everyone invited to Race Unity Day picnic

The second annual Race Unity Day picnic is taking place Sunday afternoon at 12:30 in Shoemaker Park. The picnic, sponsored by the Baha'is of Wrangell, will feature balloons, a puppet show, and pony rides for the kids and live music and food for the entire family. Wrangell is state's newest borough

Wrangell has officially become Alaska's eighteenth borough. During Tuesday night's special city council meeting, the new assembly and boards swore in as well as the first mayor of the city and borough of Wrangell. KSTK's Lisa Phu was there and files this report.

Coast Guard in town for courtesy dockside exams

The Coast Guard is in Wrangell to conduct courtesy dockside exams for commercial fishing vessels. Boat owners can schedule an exam between now and Sunday, June 8. KSTK's Lisa Phu met up with commercial fishing vessel examiner Tim Clepper at Wrangell's Heritage Harbor and found out more about what the exam entails.

Royalty contestants make July 4th possible

The event people in Wrangell look forward to the most is the fourth of July. The kick-off was held on Sunday, and while the big day is still over a month away, preparation for the fourth is a full-year task for the Chamber of Commerce. And a long, hard month's work for the royalty contestants.
