Prunella Heads to Petersburg

Wrangell recently found a borough manager in Owasso, Oklahoma, Assistant City Administrator Tim Rooney, and soon Wrangell's former Borough Manager will fill in in Petersburg while that community looks for a new city manager. Wrangell Borough Manager Bob Prunella retired in May after nine years on the job. KSTK's Tony Gorman had an opportunity to speak with Prunella about his interim management of Petersburg's daily operations.

Meet Tim Rooney, Wrangell Borough Manager

Last week, Wrangell's search for a borough manager came to an end when the Wrangell Assembly approved the hire of Tim Rooney. The Borough gets a person with years of experience in community planning and public administration. Rooney has been working with the City of Owasso, Oklahoma, for the past 17 years and is a former resident of Kodiak, Alaska. He replaces Bob Prunella, who has since moved on to become Petersburg interim city manager. KSTK's Tony Gorman had an opportunity to speak with Rooney about accepting the job and some of his goals once he gets to Wrangell.

Utility Rate Increases Loom in Wrangell

Last month, the Wrangell Assembly explored the possibility of rate hikes only to put it off for another year until a rate study is conducted. An increase would be the first in seven years. KSTK's Tony Gorman has more.

Seiner Sinks at Heritage Harbor

Wrangell Police are investigating a sinking at Heritage Harbor that occurred over the weekend. It took nearly two days for crews to resurface the commercial fishing vessel. KTSK's Tony Gorman reports.
