Interim Wrangell District Ranger Looks to Make Impact

It's been a little over a month since Francisco Sanchez took over as Interim Wrangell District Ranger. Sanchez comes to the district after spending time in his native New Mexico, Georgia, and Petersburg. He temporarily replaces Mark Hummel, who left in June to become Deputy Supervisor for the Superior National Forest in Minnesota. KSTK's Tony Gorman had a chance to talk to Sanchez about the issues facing the Wrangell Ranger District.

The Wrangell Garden Tour

Some Wrangellites saw this year's rare summer weather as an opportunity to put their green thumbs to work. This weekend, the Community Garden Project will be sponsoring the First Annual Wrangell Garden Tour. The event will feature some of the best gardens Wrangell has to offer. KSTK's Tony Gorman had a chance to speak with the tour's organizer, Alice Rooney to learn more about the event.

Trident Seafoods begins operation in Wrangell

After a few months of uncertainty, Wrangell officially became the newest home for Trident Seafoods in mid-April, bringing Trident's total number of plants in the state to 13. Trident took over the fish processing plant formerly owned by Wrangell Seafoods, Inc. Since then, Trident's been busy making upgrades to the plant and, as of the end of July, processing fish. KSTK's Lisa Phu spoke with the new plant manager of Trident in Wrangell, and files this report.
