New Wrangell Borough Manager Hits the Ground Running

Wrangell gets first road-accessible Forest Service cabin

A new cabin is currently being installed in the Wrangell Ranger District. Not only is it the district's first road-accessible cabin, it's also the district's first log cabin. The logs are second growth timber from the Starrigavan Valley in Sitka. KSTK's Lisa Phu caught a ride out to the Middle Ridge cabin site, talked with the building crew, and files this report.

Wrangell Assembly Buys into Southeast Regional Transmission Organization Concept

In the search to provide energy to Southeast Alaska, the Wrangell Assembly continues to look at all of its options. At this week's meeting, the Assembly approved a proposed memorandum that would allow the borough to collaborate with the Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska to do business as Tlingit-Haida Energy.
