KSTK interviews election candidates

The October 4th municipal election is next week, and this year there are eight local candidates running for public boards and commissions. KSTK’s Charlotte Duren has sat down with each candidate to discuss the election, what motivates them, and if elected what some of their goals are. Today Charlotte talks with Don McConachie and Incumbent Wilma Stokes who are running unopposed for the two open seats on the Wrangell Borough Assembly. Followed by Brennon Eagle who is running unopposed for port commission and Susan Eagle who is running unopposed for a seat on the Wrangell School Board.

Rescued seal pup returns to Wrangell

Each year the Alaska Sea life Center rescues more than a dozen seals, and after months of rehabilitation at the center, the marine animals are returned to the wild. Recently a baby seal pup was returned to Wrangell after nearly three months of rehabilitation at the Seward center. KSTK’s Charlotte Duren attended the seal pup release and has this report.

$24.7 Million USDA loan approved for ballot

The Wrangell Borough Assembly met for a regular meeting Tuesday evening (9/27). At the head of discussion was the second reading of an ordinance for the construction of the new hospital replacement facility as well as a number of upcoming city improvement projects.
