Summer is here and so are annual boat launch permits. Boat owners in Wrangell can start getting their permits this week.

Bobbie Robbins is the administrative assistant to the harbor master.

She says it’s important for boat owners to have proper permits visible at all times.

“Boat owners need to purchase a boat launch permit, place it on the trailer up near the front of the tongue, so that it can be seen. It needs to be attached to the trailer while launching and attached to the trailer while parked in the harbor. The only way to park a trailer in the harbor is if it is attached to a vehicle,” said Robbins.

Robbins says the permits are valid for fiscal year 2013-2014.

That’s from July 1st of this year until June 30th of next year.

She says there are two different boat launch fees to choose from.

“Permits are $50 plus tax for the year. Stall holders pay $25,” said Robbins.

The permits are available at the Harbor Master’s office starting Wednesday, July 19th at 8 am.
