Letter calls on SEAPA, assemblies to “cease and desist”

The borough assembly last night voted to postpone discussion of a controversial letter until the next regular meeting. The letter calls for the Southeast Alaska Power Agency and the borough assemblies of Wrangell and Petersburg to “cease and desist” negotiations until Thomas Bay can play a more active role.

WMC Fair promotes healthy living in Wrangell

Wrangell Medical Center’s annual health fair was Saturday, April 5th. The Nolan Center was packed full of venders and visitors with one mission- promoting healthy living in Wrangell.

Community Wide Disaster Drill

On Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014, at 6:00 pm, Wrangell will hold an inter-agency disaster drill. The purpose of this drill is to give Wrangell’s emergency responders and medical teams the opportunity to practice their response in the event of a community wide emergency. This event will be a drill, not a real emergency . No action from community members will need to be taken.

Commission moves forward with memorial design

The Port Commission is moving forward with the second of three design concepts for the proposed Mariner’s Memorial. Concept two is a hybrid that focuses on the visitor’s journey through the memorial.
