The Wrangell Public School Board Tuesday voted to offer Kendall Benson the job of secondary school principal.
Benson is principal of Cedar Middle School in Cedar City, Utah. He will replace principal Colter Barnes, who resigned from Stikine Middle School and Wrangell High School after less than a year on the job.
The board also offered contracts to all of the district’s non-tenured teachers.
Board members postponed their decision on teacher contracts from last week’s meeting because they expected to have more information about the state budget. But the board still does not know how much money the district will get from the state next year.
Before the meeting, the board held a workshop to discuss new school food program options that would reduce costs. Ideas ranged from a supplemental food program with simple snacks to getting culinary arts students involved in cooking food for the program.
Board members did not make a decision on the food program Tuesday.
