Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For today’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Wrangell’s Public Health Nurse Erin Michael. Erin discussed all the individual services she provides, like immunizations, child exams and STD screenings. But she’s also involved in community education and prevention, through community-wide health surveys and partnering with local groups. She gave us some resources on how to talk to your teen about sex health when you’re stuck with a school system that teaches abstinence only. And Erin told us she has this big glowing toy bug that teaches kids the very simple but vital task of washing your hands.
