Mike Green is an expedition coordinator for Alaska Crossings in Wrangell. (June Leffler/ KSTK)

Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For this week’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Mike Green. He’s an expedition coordinator with Alaska Crossings, a program that takes teens from all over Alaska out on months long excursions near Wrangell. The program’s goal is to build resilience, confidence and social skills in Alaska’s youth. Mike told us how the program works and why he loves his job. He also told a little bit about his travels. We learned that if you’re riding a bike past yurts in Mongolia it’s customary to say “hold the dog” to save your own tail.
