Wrangell volunteers handed out Thanksgiving boxes last Friday. Over $5,000 worth of donated food items went to feed about 80 families in town.

This year, the Ministerial Association and the Salvation Army were able to provide Thanksgiving fixings to feed over 200 people, about 80 of them children.

Two dedicated volunteers, Don and Bonnie Roher, have been handing out food for the past 18 years.

Don says people walk out smiling, and have told him they wouldn’t be able to have the traditional Thanksgiving meal without the help. Bonnie says families might end up eating hotdogs or something like that.

“I know that Don a lot of times will be saying ‘I don’t know if we’ll have enough money,” said Harbor Light Church Pastor Kem Haggard.  “Wrangell every year steps up.”
