A post on one of Wrangell’s Facebook groups says a pair of dogs were left for dead on the island. The dogs were tied up to a tree off of Spur Road.
The Wrangell Police Department says the dogs were not left to starve or freeze. Police Chief Doug McCloskey says both dogs were shot and “poorly disposed of.”
The police were notified Tuesday and inspected the remains. They said the remains have been there for at least a month. The police buried the two dogs.
This disturbed many folks on social media. One woman made a post saying she’d take in dogs if folks aren’t able to keep them, saying “No questions asked! Very heartbreaking that someone thought killing two innocent dogs was their only choice.”
