Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For this week’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Mary Campbell who is a social worker at Wrangell Medical Center. She discussed advanced medical directives. These are documents that let you spell out your decisions about your end-of-life care ahead of time. It’s not an easy subject to confront on your own, let alone talk about with your family, but Mary says these can ease a lot of heartache for when things get serious.

While the process of setting up your own advanced directive can be cumbersome, Mary recommends using Five Wishes as a starting point. This resource walks you through decisions about undergoing life-support to organ donation to what sentiments you need your loved ones to know.
