Boys and girls teams from six rural communities in Alaska kicked off the tournament last Wednesday at Dimond High School in Anchorage.

And currently, Wrangell’s boys and girls are undefeated 2-0.

Wednesday, Wrangell Wolves faced Tok, with the girls winning 70 to 25 and the boys winning 55 to 26.

Today, the Wolves won against Selawik, with the girls winning 56 to 12 and the boys winning 68 to 58.

This competition is separate from other school basketball tournaments, which are usually ran by the state’s Alaska School Activities Association. Rally Alaska hosts Rally the Regions as an extra playing opportunity for rural teams. Rally Alaska also hosts sport and leadership workshops for students throughout the year.

The wolves will play against Cordova tomorrow. Girls play at 12:30 pm, boys play at 3:00 pm. Championships are this Saturday.
