The Wrangell Wolves basketball teams faced their rivals, the Petersburg Vikings, last weekend. The Lady Wolves varsity team remains undefeated, with eight wins and zero loses. The varsity boys lost Friday’s game, but won Saturday’s game.

They’re no question, the Lady Wolves are killing it. At this point in the season, the wolves have played all of their regional conference opponents. And the girls haven’t lost a single game to those four other teams.

Friday night, varsity girls dominated Peterburg by 25 points. And Saturday by 26 points.

Two of the Southeast 2A teams will go to state. And Wrangell’s girls are posed to get one of those slots.

Wrangell’s varsity boys are keeping their heads above water, winning half of their conference games and losing the other half.

Last weekend the boys got stomped by Petersburg Friday night, losing by 20 points. That marked three consecutive loses, with their weekend against Metlakatla.

But, the boys pulled it together and won Saturday’s game by 5 points. A much needed victory on their home turf against their rivals.

Wrangell’s JV boys lost both nights. Wrangell’s JV girls did not get to play conference games since Peterburg doesn’t have a full JV girls team.

The wolves will cycle through each southeast opponent again for their season. Next weekend they will play the Craig Panthers in Craig.

Regionals are in Sitka from March 5th through 9th.
