Wrangell’s public library will welcome Juneau writer Ernestine Hayes later this week. Hayes is an assistant professor of English at the University of Alaska Southeast. She was named the Alaska State Writer Laureate in 2016 for her published memoirs. KSTK’s June Leffler spoke with the writer on the phone.

Her memoirs include “Blonde Indian” and most recently “Tao of Raven.” She also publishes essays and children’s books.

The public library will host a meet and greet with Hayes from 2pm to 4pm Friday. Hayes will then conduct a writing workshop at the Nolan Center Saturday from 9:30AM to 5PM. Please call the library to register for the workshop. Our full conversation with the writer is online at KSTK.org
