Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For this week’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Mark Walker. He founded Alaska Island Community Services, a non-profit health provider based in Wrangell and serving communities across Southeast. Mark gave a history of the organization, from its core as a behavioral health provider, to adding dental and primary care, to expanding across the region, and finally merging with SEARHC. As the the regional director of SEARHC’s behavioral health programs, Mark gave an outlook of how state and federal budgets are impacting care. Mark also gave a rundown of behavioral health services available in town, including opioid addiction treatment and individual and group counseling.
