Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For this week’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Kyle Freeberg, Wrangell’s wildlife trooper. He came to Wrangell last April, and since then he’s patrolled the lands and waters near our town. Coming from Fairbanks, Kyle has had to learn a lot about fishing seasons and regulations in Southeast. Before he started his post six months ago, Wrangell had a brief stint with no trooper. Kyle says having a presence always encourages compliance.

Kyle mentioned a buck was shot and left on the road near Middle Ridge Cabin. He says the community can help out on these cases of wanton waste. If you have any information that might help the troopers’ investigations, you can leave an anonymous tip with the Wildlife Safeguard Program at 1-800-478-3377.
