Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For this week’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Holly Padilla and Angie Flickenger about the art of bread baking. Holly and Angie gave their take on all things sourdough related. The two spoke about how to keep your sourdough starter healthy and active, what it will look like and what’s happening chemically. Holly started bread baking while she was living the cabin life in northwest Montana, when she didn’t have access to bakeries. Angie started in her college years when she says she was too broke not to learn how to bake on her own. For both of them, the “knead” for available, fresh and affordable bread got them fixated on the life-long process of learning how to bake.
