Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For this week’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Tracy Allen, one of the organizers of Girls Pearls. She says Carol Churchill was the first to put together a female-exclusive event to rival the Stikine Sportmen’s annual game dinner. Tracy Allen picked up the idea again in 2013, and since then other women have jumped on board to grow the event. Tracy gave us a taste of what food and festivities there were. FOMO warning for anyone that wasn’t able to attend, but there is always next year.
More than $2000 in proceeds from the event went to Wrangell Burial Assistance, the local Elks lodge, and the swim club.
