City of Wrangell
All theater showings and public events at the Nolan Center are cancelled until March 28th. Private events will be handled individually.
All Parks and Recreation facilitates and activities are cancelled until March 28th. The department encourages folks to enjoy the outdoors.
The library is closed until March 28th. Staff can still assist with digital downloads and book pick-ups.
These closures could be extended.
City hall and all other public facilities are open. There have been no closures to the DMV or courthouse at this point.
Wrangell Public Schools
All classes and activities are cancelled for two weeks, until March 30th. That closure could be extended.
Wrangell has pulled out of the regional tournament.
Community events
KSTK’s chili cookoff is postponed.
Signature gathering for Recall Dunleavy is still on (March 13-15)
The Shamrock Shuffle is postponed.
Adult Prom is postponed.
The Chase Rivers sale is postponed.
Businesses
Businesses are overwhelmingly not closing or reducing hours. All grocery stores, hardware stores and bars are open. Wrangell Fitness is still open, though that is tentative.
Other organizations
The tribe is cancelling board elections (originally scheduled for March 16) and WCA Census Assistance Day (originally scheduled for April 1, 2020).
Crossings has not cancelled any programming at this time. It is implementing a medical screening process for all staff and clients prior to enrollment.
The Chamber of Commerce has not cancelled any events at this time. Any cancellations will be decided at the next board meeting.
Wrangell Senior Center has cancelled all activities and group lunches indefinitely. Home meals and rides will still be provided. Any senior can request these services.
