Wrangell’s city assembly is set to declare a local emergency at a meeting this afternoon. In a statement, the city says it would take only four cases of serious respiratory complications to overwhelm the Wrangell Medical Center. This is because the local hospital only as three ventilators on hand. The city says the declaration would open up state and federal resources. It would also allow the city mandate certain measures, such as curfews and shutting down bars and dining options at restaurants.
