Wrangell is expecting to purchase a new ambulance with CARES money. Information provided by Borough Manager Lisa Von Bargen indicates that having only two ambulances creates a weak link in the community response plan. That’s because one ambulance must be set aside for possible COVID transports, leaving Wrangell with only one ambulance to respond to emergencies. One ambulance is not enough when there is an emergency that involves more than one individual in need of medical assistance.

The assembly is still in discussion with Trident about using the bunk house as an alternate isolation shelter for asymptomatic but COVID positive individuals who have no other place to safely stay.

The State of Alaska has issued re-open Alaska guidelines. Information available online at https://covid19.alaska.gov/

Representatives from American Cruise Lines were in attendance to talk about and answer questions from the assembly and the public about their interest in bringing 250 passenger ships to Wrangell in late June.
