Another person in Wrangell has tested positive for COVID-19, city officials said Monday. The individual is not a Wrangell resident.

This is Wrangell’s 18th case of COVID-19, and one of three active cases currently in the community. The 15 other people previously diagnosed have since recovered.

The individual is asymptomatic and is now in isolation after testing positive during a routine employee testing program, city officials said. The hometown and employer of the infected person was not released.

The city says the Section of Epidemiology has been notified and that contact tracing for the case is underway.

COVID-19 testing is available free of charge to the community every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. SEARHC’s COVID-19 hotline has more information at (907) 966-8799.
