After Thursday evening’s difficult arrest, suspect pled not guilty

Wrangell police said they encountered a difficult arrest Thursday night when a man wanted in Washington state resisted. The police department received a call from The Stikine Inn, a local restaurant and hotel, Thursday at about 7:30 p.m. about a man who was causing a disturbance.

Fire at Circle Bay; investigation is underway

A fire is burning in the Circle Bay area on Woronkofski Island. That’s about seven miles west of Wrangell on U.S. Forest Service land.

Peltola drops in on Wrangell before election

Currently, the incumbent Democrat is one of 12 candidates competing for Alaska’s singular seat. She visited Wrangell on Friday during her Southeast Alaska tour and stopped by KSTK.
