Talk on the Rock: Olivia Strano updates us on the upcoming Milk Run Music Fest

Episode 52: One of Milk Run Music Fest’s organizers, Olivia Strano, visited KSTK to talk more with News Director Colette Czarnecki about how the plans for the festival are coming along. Strano said to expect live bands (Montana based North Fork Crossing and The Dead and Down), vendors, a comedian and open mic on May 2 (6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) and May 3 (noon – 8:30 p.m.) at City Dock, weather permitting. The bands will then play at Raymes Bar both nights at 9 p.m. The outdoor event will be moved to the Nolan Center in case of unfavorable weather.

Portable Southeast will soon leave Wrangell and head to other coastal communities

Portable Southeast, a traveling art exhibit that will visit six different communities in 2025, is in its second year. It’s a collaboration between the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council and community centers throughout Southeast and the Gulf of Alaska. There are 29 art pieces that reflect coastal living by 23 artists from Southeast Alaska this year. There’s a mix of paintings, watercolors, photography and textile art. One of the artists includes Grace Wolf of Petersburg, who is a painter and jewelry maker. Others come from Juneau, Gustavus, Ketchikan, Tenakee Springs, Haines and Thorne Bay.
