Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, or SEARHC, has recently added a new full time position in Wrangell. Wrangell resident Virginia Oliver is SEARHC's new referral care coordinator. Community garden gets instant funding from 'Steps'

Many who were at Tuesday night's meeting on establishing a community garden in Wrangell thought they were in for a brainstorming session. Little did they know that they were involving themselves in a project that's already been allocated some funding. A community garden in Wrangell may be a closer reality than most had anticipated. Landfill cover project stalls

A grassy knoll where the over 40-year-old dump now stands is still a ways away according to Wrangell's Public Works director. Even though the landfill has been completely full since March, the project to cover it has stalled due to lack of funding. KSTK's Lisa Phu reports.

Healthy Wrangell Coalition put efforts toward community garden

The Healthy Wrangell Coalition celebrated their one-year anniversary back in February. The Coalition, which is a group of organizations and individuals concerned with making Wrangell a healthy community, is responsible for such programs as Wrangell in Motion, the Healthy Wrangell speaker series, and Workout Wednesdays. Now, along with SEARHC and SEARHC's Community Health Advocate, Tammi Meissner, the Healthy Wrangell Coalition is working on establishing a community garden. KSTK's Lisa Phu has the story.

Prunella Heads to Petersburg

Wrangell recently found a borough manager in Owasso, Oklahoma, Assistant City Administrator Tim Rooney, and soon Wrangell's former Borough Manager will fill in in Petersburg while that community looks for a new city manager. Wrangell Borough Manager Bob Prunella retired in May after nine years on the job. KSTK's Tony Gorman had an opportunity to speak with Prunella about his interim management of Petersburg's daily operations.
