Wrangell Fish and Game Advisory Committee Meeting

The Wrangell Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet on Thursday May 16 at 7 PM at the Fire Hall. Proposals to the Boards of Fish and Game will be discussed. All are welcome to attend.

No 2013 Stikine subsistence chinook harvest

It looks like there won’t be a chinook subsistence fishery on the Stikine River this year. Officials this week closed the annual opening, scheduled for May 15th to June 20th.

New plan for Anan

The Anan Wildlife Observatory is located 30 miles from Wrangell and is best known for its bears. Anan is currently managed under a 10-year plan which is up for its next review. The Forest Service is in the process of re-vamping this plan to accommodate more local and commercial visitors.

Chautauqua speaker on invasive plant species

The Wrangell Chautauqua series continues Thursday, March 14, 2013, with a presentation by Brian Maupin. Brian Maupin is an invasive species specialist with the Alaska Association of Conservation Districts.
