The winter season brings with it a long list of "to do" items. Preparation is always the key. Recently KSTK's Kelley Decker spoke with Wrangell's Public Health Center Nurse Janet Strom, who wants to remind people of on more "to do" item to put on their list.

The stream bank restoration project currently scheduled to begin at Shoemaker Park is just one of a few planned improvements to be made. Recently Kelley Decker spoke with Kim Covalt of the Wrangell Parks and Rec Department and files this report.

Wrangell recently learned it would get an increase in federal education funds this year. Borough and school officials had worried the $750,000 annual payments would disappear. But last-minute Congressional action approved the Secure Rural Schools Act funding. It also boosted the amount to about $930,000 for this year.

Wrangell is making plans to rebuild parts of its downtown. The Southeast city hopes to upgrade streets, sidewalks, utilities and landscaping over the next few years.

The Wrangell Assembly's Canvass Board certified the 2008 Municipal Election results on October 13th.
