Last month, a group of young Wrangellites wrapped up the First Annual Fish Camp. The group took a trip up the Stikine River where they learned how to catch and prepare smoked fish. The trip was funded through a traditional foods grant from the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC). Local SEARHC Health Advocate Tammi Meissner recently talked with KSTK's Tony Gorman about the experience.

A mobile home on the Panhandle claimed two lives. The incident is currently under investigation by the Alaska State Fire Marshal Office. KSTK's Tony Gorman reports.

The Downtown Revitalization Project continues to draw heat from local business and land owners following the display of the latest designs. This week, the 35 percent completion drawings from Anchorage-based engineering firm were display at City Hall. As KSTK's Tony Gorman reports, the designs were not the only things that were laid out at this week's Wrangell Assembly meeting.

Wrangell resident, raw foodist, and organic foods seller Dan Trail is full of produce trivia — kiwis can be golden yellow inside, daikan can be grated up and used as a rice substitute, and mustard greens have a bit that tastes like wasabi. KSTK's Lisa Phu recently visited Trail and found out how a man who once ate mostly canned food went to being nicknamed 'Organic Dan.'

The Wrangell School District is looking to make recess more fun for Evergreen Elementary School students by making upgrades to the playground area. As KSTK's Tony Gorman reports the District is going have to wait for the outcome of the upcoming local election to see if the Wrangell Borough will pick up a part of the bill to cover costs.
