Tlingit canoe will hang in the Smithsonian

Tlingit artist Doug Chilton recently finished carving a traditional red cedar canoe in April, and last week skippered it down the Potomac River in Washington, D.C.
Commissioned by the Sealaska Heritage Institute for the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, Chilton's canoe will hang in the soon-to-be-opened Ocean Hall.

Wrangell borough properties will be appraised this summer

The Appraisal Company of Alaska has a big job coming up this summer around Wrangell. They've been tasked with the duty of assessing what could be up to 500 properties that are now considered part of the Wrangell borough. The job does not include revaluation of properties in the original city boundary area. This is one of the many steps Wrangell has to take as the transition into boroughhood unfolds.

Wrangell's boys and girls club seeks additional membership.

Twenty to twenty-five of Wrangell's youth spend their weekday afternoons and Saturday evenings at Wrangells Boys and Girls Club of America. The Boys and Girls Club offers a safe alternative for kids who are home alone, have no adult supervision or are just plain bored during the summer months.
