Summer reading kicks off for kids

Monday was the first day of the summer reading program at the Wrangell Public Library. The program lasts for eight weeks until July 26 and culminates in a pool pizza party. With hundreds of books to choose from and 140 prize drawings to enter, the summer reading program has proven again and again to be a fun way for kids to spend the season.

Representatives from both the city councils of Petersburg and Kake were in Wrangell on Wednesday night to attend the city council workshop on the possible four dam pool divestiture. The visiting representatives are concerned with Wrangell's potential involvement with Cascade Creek and Wrangell's direction on the divestiture.
