Even if you didn't file for candidacy for Wrangell's upcoming election on borough incorporation, you still have the opportunity to run for mayor, borough assembly, port commission, school board, and hospital board. KSTK's Lisa Phu reports.

Doors open at 7 am Saturday morning for the 2008 Health Fair taking place at the Nolan Center. There will be close to 50 booths promoting health in Wrangell and southeast, and almost every booth will have a door prize. KSTK's Lisa Phu spoke with co-organizer of the event, Kathy Gross, about grand prizes for all ages and the newest additions to the health fair.

Last week the Wrangell Ranger District made what they now deem a "rash decision." They announced the suspension of their commercial firewood permitting process. This lasted for roughly a day before the decision was reversed due to overwhelming public opposition. Wednesday night, the forest service held a public meeting to discuss the future of Wrangell local firewood resource. KSTK's Lisa Phu reports.

The people of Wrangell will soon get to vote on whether or not the city of Wrangell should become its own borough. Included in this vote is the adoption of the proposed borough charter, which differs from the current city charter adopted in 2004. KSTK's Lisa Phu files this report.

There will be over 45 booths at this year's annual health fair, which is taking place on Saturday at the Nolan Center from 7 am to noon. The public will be able to learn about health services offered in Wrangell as well as throughout southeast. Two of the booths will be put on by the Wrangell Lions Club. KSTK's Lisa Phu reports.
