For the second year in a row, AARP is offering Tax-Aide in Wrangell. Tax-Aide in a free, volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service. KSTK's Lisa Phu spoke with Tax-Aide counselors Ann Schnell and Paula Rak and files this report.

This coming weekend, a group from Wrangell will be in Juneau lobbying for education. Half of the group is comprised of students. KSTK's Lisa Phu talked to school district superintendent Woody Wilson about the issues at hand and why students make for great lobbyists.

Master weaver Delores Churchill is visiting Wrangell next week to teach a ten-day Tlingit/Haida weaving class. A recipient of many awards and honors, including the Rasmuson Foundation Distinguished Artist Award and the Governor’s Award for the Arts, Churchill is known for both her artistry skills and her teaching skills. KSTK's Lisa Phu reports.

Starting January 31, new border crossing requirements will be imposed on Alaskans traveling from Canada back into the state. U.S. citizens crossing land and sea borders will have to present documentary proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, as well as a government-issued photo identification card. KSTK's Lisa Phu reports.

Several community members in Wrangell have joined forces to form the carving shed committee. What's starting out as just a group of individuals getting together may end up being something that brings the community together.
