Thomas Bay hydro plans still in play

Cascade Creek LLC is still pursuing Thomas Bay hydropower development. That’s despite the recent Galore Creek Mine closure and the Northwest BC transmission line suspension. Petersburg has expressed opposition to the project that’s located only 15 miles north of the town, but the city of Wrangell continues support.

Cold storage close to completion

The Wrangell public cold storage facility is scheduled for substantial completion January 9. Management of the facility needs to be figured out prior to the start of the next fishing season. During a recent city council meeting, the RFP for cold storage management was approved with two very important stipulations.

Wrangell supports Kake intertie plan

An electrical intertie between Petersburg and Kake was discussed during a December meeting involving the city councils of Wrangell, Petersburg, and Kake. Wrangell’s city council passed a resolution supporting Kake’s effort in making that happen.

'In The Now' debuts at the Klondike Road Relay

Over 1,000 runners and walkers from Alaska and Canada descended onto Skagway this past weekend to participate in the 27th Annual Klondike Trail of '98 International Road Relay.
