April 15 is the normal deadline for filing taxes. And this year there is an added incentive to do so – the 2008 Economic Stimulus Payment. Almost everyone is eligible to receive anywhere between $300 and $600 this coming May. And Wrangell's AARP's Tax-Aide counselor Anne Schnell wants to make sure that happens. KSTK's Lisa Phu reports.

House District Two representative Peggy Wilson was home in Wrangell this past weekend. It's been her first visit since January. Before jumping on a plane back to Juneau, she dropped by KSTK to talk about House Bill 294, her gripe with the ninety-day session, and what she'll be doing after the session ends. The filing deadline has passed and the official candidate list for Wrangell's upcoming May 6 election has just come out. This election will allow voters to decide if Wrangell should become a borough and who should be the borough's elected officials. KSTK's Lisa Phu reports.

In the age of interactive video games, like Nintendo Wii, it's refreshing when a kid picks up an old fashion jump rope and … jumps. That’s what the students of Evergreen Elementary School did on Wednesday morning. Jump Rope for Heart is a national event. And thanks to organizer Holly Hammer, this is its second year in Wrangell. The event helps children understand the important of physical activity while raising money for the American Heart Association. KSTK's Lisa Phu brings us the story.

At their last meeting, the Wrangell City Council said they would be giving Wrangell Seafoods two business days until their power would be shut off. In those two days, the company could either take care of safety issues associated with having the power shut off, or they could pay their utility bill. KSTK's Lisa Phu reports.
