Governor Sarah Palin made the shocking announcement going into the Fourth of July weekend that she will be stepping down at the end of the month. During a press conference at her home in Wasilla, the 2008 GOP Vice-Presidential Candidate stated that she could she felt that she could effect more positive change for Alaskans and Americans outside of government. The Wrangell Assembly will go into a special meeting, Thursday, to discuss offering the borough manager position to one of five candidates. Last week, KSTK's Tony Gorman had a chance to catch up with all five finalists during a public reception at the Nolan Center.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission recently accepted the City of Angoon's permit filing to produce and sell hydropower at Scenery Lake. Angoon is also looking to produce power at Ruth Lake, where Wrangell and Petersburg want to do the same thing. KSTK's Tony Gorman reports.
