The Planning and Zoning Commission voted Thursday to recommend that the borough allow a tribal transportation office to be built on residential land.

Borough Assembly rejects electric rate study

The Wrangell Borough Assembly voted unanimously Tuesday to reject a proposal for an electric department rate study. It was meant to help Wrangell Light and Power determine if it is financially ready to address deficiencies that were recently revealed in the power distribution system.

Borough Assembly awards contract for Institute property master plan

The Wrangell Borough Assembly voted Tuesday to offer a contract to Corvus Design to create a master plan for the former site of the Wrangell Institute. The assembly postponed its decision on a contract for a property assessment and feasibility study at the former mill site.

Anan dock design to be re-evaluated, local opposition continues

The U.S. Forest Service is re-evaluating its design for a dock at the Anan Wildlife Observatory because bids on the project exceeded the budget. Meanwhile, Wrangell tour operators continue to oppose the dock.
