American Cruise Lines seeks long-term partnership with Wrangell; some residents for it, others not

American Cruise Lines visits small towns in the United States, including two ships that call throughout the summer in Wrangell for the past few years now. The company wants to establish more of a long-term relationship with Wrangell, and the city has been negotiating plans with them. Representatives visited the town last month to talk with community members on what a 40-year contract would look like.

Wrangell Assembly preview: planned unit developments, land sale and the general fund budget

Wrangell’s borough assembly will consider amending the municipal code to expand housing options at today’s assembly meeting. This will include adding a chapter covering PUDs, or planned unit developments. The review began in 2021 and there were multiple work sessions since. During the June 19 Planning and Zoning meeting, the commission voted to adopt the final draft code for PUDs to exist on a minimum of one acre in Wrangell. PUDs are known to be efficient, creative and are located on private property under a single ownership.
