Episode 18: With The primary elections being next month, Nonpartisan candidate Agnes Moran spoke with KSTK’s News Director Colette Czarnecki on running in the Alaska House of Representative District 1 primary. She explained her identity as a moderate, consensus-type candidate, where she said she’s “middle-of-the-road.” Her priorities include the Alaska Marine Highway System, education, affordable housing and protecting fisheries and the Permanent Fund Dividend. She serves as the executive director of Women in Safe Homes – also known as WISH, which is a regional domestic violence shelter. She also serves on the boards of Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and First Bank.

Episode 17: The primary elections are next month and with Wrangell being in District 1, along with Ketchikan, Saxman, Coffman Cove, Metlakatla and other communities in southern SE Alaska. With us today, KSTK’s News Director Colette Czarnecki speaks with Grant EchoHawk, who is running as a nonpartisan for the Alaska House of Representatives in District 1. He’s on the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly, the Library Advisory Board and the Ketchikan Tribal Business Corporation. He goes into his passion for public services with a community-first focus. Additionally, he gives insight on big issues for Southeast Alaska, which include education, support programs, protecting salmon in the region and housing.

Episode 15: With primary elections happening on August 20, campaign season is approaching full swing. Republican candidate Jeremy Bynum talked with KSTK’s News Director Colette Czarnecki about his visions for House of Representatives District 1. He’s on the Ketchikan Borough Assembly and the Southeast Alaska Power Agency Board. He also is the Acting Electric Division manager for Ketchikan Public Utilities. He covers how this campaign has differed from the previous one he ran for in 2022. He talks about transportation, education, housing, economics and energy for the Southeast Alaska district.
